Type of Plant, based on the plant size, growth, use cases.

We've covered, Succulents, Carnivorous, Ephemerals, Herbs, Shrubs, Annuals, Medicinal, Ornamental, Timber, Ephemerals, Trees, Creepers, Climbers, Food crops, Biennial, Fibre and Perennials plants in this article.

Plants belong to the Kingdom Plantae and are green due to the presence of chlorophyll. They are immobile and cannot move from place to place.

As multicellular organisms, plants are autotrophs, meaning they make their own food through the process of photosynthesis. Their cell walls are composed of cellulose, a type of carbohydrate.

The types of plants are as follows, based on the plant size and growth:

• Herb plants: these type of plants are usually short size, green, and non-woody, in nature and are found to be delicate plants.

• Shrubs : shrubs are medium-sized plants, these are woody, and taller than herbs plants, but shorter than trees in overall growth.

• Trees : trees are the most well-known types of plants we know. They are tall and have a thick, and hard stem called a trunk.

• Climbers: Climbers are long, thin plants. They need support to grow in upward direction. They have weak stems.

Few examples of Climbers include, grapevine and bottle gourd.

• Creepers: Creepers are plants with long stems that spread along the ground, such as strawberries, money plants, pumpkins, and watermelons.

The plants that are re-produced after completing a certain lifecycle are as follows:

• Annuals: they complete their lifecycles in one growing season, they die after producing fruits or seeds but must be replanted each year. The examples of such plants include, Marigold, petunias.

• Biennial: a plant that complete its lifecycle into two years. They grow vegetatively in the first year and produce flowers and seeds in the second. Some examples of such plants include, carrots, parsley, leek.

• Perennials: These plants live for more than two years and regrow each spring. They may become dormant during the winter but can regenerate from the same root system. Some examples include, roses, daisies, peonies.

Plants type based on the purpose or use cases:

• Fibre plants: these plants are used for textiles, example include, cotton, jute, etc.

• Medicinal plants: these plants are used for health purposes, example of which include:

Neem (Azadirachta indica), also known as the nimtree or Indian lilac. Tulsi (Indian basil), botanical name for Tulsi is Ocimum sanctum.

• Food crops: These plants provide edible parts, or simply put the food we eat, like rice, wheat, etc.

• Ornamental plants: These types of plants are used to enhance beauty, examples include, tulips, bougainvillea.

• Timber plants : these plants provide wood, examples of such plants include, teak, mahogany, etc.

The plants that are not commonly known:

Some plants are not widely acknowledged but play unique roles in their ecosystems. These are known as specialized plants:

• Succulents: the plants that store water into their leaves or stems known as succulents, example of these include, aloe Vera, jade plants, among others.

Carnivorous Plants: these plants are specialized for nutrient-poor soils and have adapted to such soils, these plants obtain nutrients by consuming animals. Examples include sundew and bladderwort.

• Ephemerals: these are Short-lived plants, they complete their entire lifecycle quickly, often in response to seasonal conditions. Example include, desert wildflowers.

These are basically the various types of plants out there, covered here for beginners and enthusiastic in the field of botany, to go through. We will cover more topics on the subject, in later pieces.
